Never Alone: On Partnerships and Provisions

The huge task of bringing the Great Commission into completion is not a lone ranger’s assignment. The more that we understand the need of the world for a Savior, the deeper we realize that we need each other in saturating every community in every nation. For this reason, we believe in the value of ministry partnerships — trusting God for provision and direction towards people who have the same battle cry of making disciples.

It is no secret that raising support is hard work. Thankfully, there are fellow sojourners who have not just done it responsibly, but also created a model that we can follow. Last February 22 and 24, we had a wonderful time learning from Bob Long, a missionary of Converge MidAmerica, who talked about ministry partnership development at Impact Church in Cubao, Quezon City. A long-time friend and partner of Wavemakers, Bob is based in Mandaue City in Cebu and presently serves as a youth ministry teacher and coach.

In a nutshell, the training was a learning experience for honing character and skills. We were reminded of the right convictions and attitudes about raising support, as well as the importance of ministry and personal vision. We also learned best practices for making presentations and following up on commitments. With a discussion on cultural issues and generational differences, we gained a better understanding on how we could bring our message across more effectively.

We praise God for the new lessons, the sweet fellowship, and the renewed excitement in building partnerships for the accomplishment of His work. Above all else, we look to God as our Ultimate Partner, as He is our Great Provider. We are eager to see Him do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.
